BY THE SEA

Sometimes it is about being in the right place at the right time. Sometimes sunset pictures can be predictable and framing them on a flat beach can be dull, but for “Distant Tides”, stepping back into the dunes with the wind whipping up the reeds like silver-green shards recoiling from the sun made for a more interesting shot.

At Formby beach in Lancashire, I waited for the best view of the sunset, but someone had beaten me to it. As it happened “Spirited Away” captures that lone person staring out to sea, I wonder what was going through their mind as the sun dipped away leaving a deep orange and umber sunset.
